This is my recipe, and I just want to add some comments about some of the comments in the reviews. Some have mentioned that the sauce is besides sweetness or tastes besides much similar tomato sauce. My guess is that the wrong prepared salsa is existence used. Yous need to apply a high quality prepared FRESH salsa, not that nasty stuff in jars or cans that is mostly tomato plant sauce. I usually find it in the deli section of my grocery store. It comes in mild, medium, or hot. I prefer the medium, only if you recollect this recipe is too hot or non hot enough, use the mild or hot versions. If you want it even hotter, add some chopped jalapenos. When I chosen the sauce spicy, I meant using lots of spices, not "hot" spicy. Also, it is not critical if you don't desire to simmer the meat sauce for the extra time. I just think the extra simmering gives the spices a hazard to meld with the meat for a better season and it also thickens the sauce. I made this several times earlier I submitted information technology to make sure I got the spices correct. The red sauce also makes a very tasty salsa. Enjoy!

I have tried so many enchilada recipes, and finally this is the i! No demand to make changes; it is perfect as is. I did use corn tortillas since that is all the store had (strange), just I dubiousness that it made any difference. Fifty-fifty the all-time restaurant enchiladas I have had don't elevation these.

This is a wonderful tex mexican dish! Fabricated it tonight for the first time for guests and information technology was a major hit! Everything is perfect.. Make is only how the recipe says and it will turn out perfect. Spices are wonderful together.

I loved these but perhaps considering I did it my way. I accept fixed this recipe both ways over the past calendar month and I have to say I like using a 28oz tin can of Quondam El Paso Enchilada Sauce (available across the country). I prepare the beef every bit described But substituted 1 1/2 cups bottled Pico de Gallo Salsa for the red enchilada sauce and the beef broth. AND I always utilize corn tortillas, flour tortillas get soggy. Just wrap the corn tortillas in a dish towel and nuke them xxx seconds at #8 and they're set to fill up. I cutting the paste down to 2 TBS, this cut downwardly enormously on the sweet. I now purchase the paste in a tube, no more finding a can in the fridge with a spot of mold in it. :-)

This dish is succulent! The directions in the recipe brand it seem harder and longer than it actually is. I did change a few things like added jalapenos and carmine peppers to make information technology more spicy. Information technology also does not take much fourth dimension to make... at starting time glance it seemed long and hard only if y'all simply go with it it will turn out amazing! My fellow loved it.

Wow, my firm smells like a restaurant and the season of these is fab! The meat mixture alone could exist made the day before, or made to go over rice. Very tasty recipe. I cook for our church freezer and this would be great to freeze and let others just reheat.

I really liked this recipe, much more than the i I was using before. And the fact that'south from scratch brand me like information technology even more. I don't alive in the Us, and so "employ a tin of ... or a package of ..." very ofttimes don't work for me, merely because I tin't buy it here. Non sure I would anyway, thinking how things taste better when they are made from scratch, and also I can control what I add to it. Though I had to make few modest changes to fit my gustatory modality. Kickoff of all, I am not a huge fan of a very spicy food, so I cutting the chili powder on half and it was withal very spicy for me (though my married man loved it :) Next fourth dimension will add even less. Second, I used a large can (28oz) of tomatoes with juice mashed with blender until smooth) and cut love apple paste in half, omitted basil and cut chicken broth to 1.5 cups (because I already had more than liquid in tomatoes). Third, I didn't sympathise why you need to keep cooking the meat sauce for xxx more minutes after calculation cheese.. I cooked information technology for 20 min or so, added cheese, covered with lid and turned off the oestrus. Followed the recipe in other steps, volition make it once more!

We did not like this recipe. Tasted more like a spaghetti sauce and using flour tortillas gave information technology a weird texture. We let the sauce cook for two hours hoping to get some of the tomato taste out simply that did non help much.

I made this concluding night for me and my hubby and we loved it. I don't know why people are saying it'southward sweet, we idea the spices were perfect. The only things I did different is I brand my own corn tortillas and I used pico de gallo instead of the salsa. Information technology must make a departure on what kind of salsa you are using, the bought stuff can be very sugariness sometimes, maybe just read the ingredient list to meet how much sugar is in it or just brand your ain its way better anyways. Loved information technology, it's a keeper.

Very expert sauce that makes the recipe summit notch, I used Ancho chili pulverisation, nice flavoring. My salsa and craven broth were homemade, and I used my Immersion blender in the pan to make a prissy smoothen texture since my salsa was pretty chunky. I skipped the warming tortillas in foil stage, just used them straight out of the package. I made my own Mexican blend of cheese with Colby Jack, and Kraft jalapeno cheddar. I as well added ane tin of black beans to the meat mixture to make fuller enchiladas, and the remainder of my ck broth worked fine in place of beefiness broth.

These enchiladas turned out very yummy! The tortillas soak up a lot of the sauce when blistering, making them extra flavorful. I didn't understand why I needed to melt the sauce for an extra 30 minutes though.

Wonderful! My picky boyfriend loved it!! I had to add together poblano peppers considering i love peppers. The filling and sauce were so skillful by itself! Will be a regular at my house :)

I make simple enchiladas all the fourth dimension with the sauce in a tin can. My husband wouldn't have known this recipe was whatever dissimilar unless I told him. It was dainty to apply the recipe since I didn't have whatever canned sauce on paw, but I won't become through the trouble next fourth dimension. OR I will make a big batch and freeze just the sauce and then I have it available. Overall the season was slap-up, just wasn't worth the endeavour.

Excellent depth of flavor! Information technology does take a long time to make, just I skipped the extra simmer on the beef considering I was afraid of overcooking the meat. I used a pepper jack cheese blend, and substituted more canned enchilada sauce for the tomato plant sauce as I did not have whatever. I used Reser'southward eatery fashion salsa. I think some reviewers who take constitute this sugariness must have used sweet salsa. I didn't find it sweet at all. Served with Mexican Rice Iii from this site. Will make once more.

Excellent. Used corn tortillas considering, well, that's what enchiladas are fabricated of. This volition not be a weeknight dinner, considering it did take a proficient scrap of time. But, oh, they were good! My very picky son ate them for lunches until they were gone (I e'er brand extras for leftovers...I tripled this recipe), and said he REALLY likes them. High praise indeed! For a change, every one in my family unit really likes this.

Really good. made it exactly equally recipe. I think next time I will employ corn tortillas with a quick fry instead of flour so that it more similar an enchilada and less like a moisture burrito.... The Red sauce is absolutely succulent and will go along that and use information technology in everything.

I really similar this recipe, however, I fabricated significant changes, and some non intentionally but out of sheer cluelessness. The first fourth dimension I made information technology, I did not realize that the meat is one thing and the sauce the other, because when I read that I needed to add together sauce to the beef, I only added the sauce that I had made according to the recipe and not the special enchilada sauce, which I didn't have anyway. So I ended up stuffing the tortillas with the same mix that I was besides pouring over them. Too, I but had pocket-size corn tortillas then that'due south what I used. I don't consume cheese so that's some other affair that was dissimilar. In any instance, in the terminate it was all kind of like a lasagne, but everybody who ate it loved information technology, so I just kept making it the incorrect style each time. I made this a couple of days ago. I followed the recipe for the filling exactly simply I used "The Best Blood-red Enchilada Sauce" (also on this website) instead for the sauce. They were so expert! My sister raved about them and fifty-fifty offered me $10 if I would give her some other one.

Our family loved this recipe. Easy to make. But this is non spicy or sweet. It'southward just right. The best enchilada sauce I've ever made. I have tried many recipes from this site. Ameliorate than canned. It does take some time but make double the recipe. The sauce freezes well. That way I have extra meals at my fingertips. When I need them. My husband like spicy food so he spices with hot sauce when he serves his up. I used beef broth instead of chicken. More than onions more garlic. I have used both flour and corn tortillas. I am then impressed with this recipe! I don't retrieve there is annihilation that I'd change! I used large sized tortillas and the fit nice and snuggle in a large dish. My favorite thing was the crimson sauce. Perfect balance of flavors, I ended up putting it over the beans and rice sides! Delicious but took some time. I also want to add together I used half a jar of on the edge chunky salsa. I also didn't take any fresh cilantro,simply still don't retrieve I was missing whatever thing without it.

The is recipe is great. I made it as instructed. We really liked the sauce. I've been using a parcel or canned but looking for something I know what the ingredients are. We really liked the flavor. The leftovers were even better. The simply thing I establish is my flour tortillas seemed soggy mean solar day ii. I think next time I will cook longer or differently or perhaps apply a corn tortilla.

I used shop bought enchilada sauce, but the recipe still turned out perfect! This is improve than any enchiladas in any restaurant I've been to. I'm making them for the family again this evening afterward several requests. Amazing!

Yes only two tsp of chili powder and corn tortilla which it made xvi.i also made my own Spanish rich which was the perfect complements. I offered cheese, one chopped tomato, some shredded lettuce, sour cream and salsa for added flavors.

Very good. My hubby loved information technology and my picky viii year old even ate the meat that was inside the enchiladas. Information technology was very flavorful and not spicy hot. The only change I fabricated was to use the entire 8 oz tin can of tomato plant sauce in the sauce and put balance of the enchilada sauce into the reddish sauce. I hate throwing away partial cans of food. . Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly. Wil make over again for sure!

This recipe is GREAT! My family loved it, and we are hard to please when it comes to enchiladas. If I/nosotros didn't call up it could be whatsoever meliorate the mean solar day of, let it rest and store for the following solar day because the flavors come together Fantastic to have the next day. The enchiladas become business firm and hold together nicely. I didn't change anything cooked as the recipe stated. It's already in my family cook book because we all voted "yeah".

I made this recipe for dinner this evening and my hubby loved it, he said it was the best Mexican dish I accept made yet. I substituted balmy green enchilada sauce for the crimson sauce cause it was all I had and doubled all of the spices with the exception of salt, which I ever omit . I will add it to the rotation. Made the recipe to a T and used fresh salsa. The event hither is the sweetness and tomato gustatory modality of the sauce - it is good, but it is non the right flavoring for Enchiladas. My xiii yr old son said, "This is great, just needs a little parmesan on top!" = bc it tastes like an italian meal more than than Mexican. * also, we are in TX and love existent Tex-Mex, mayhap this could pass as a Mexican dish in other regions of the U.S., but not here.

Reviewing the sauce on this recipe. I used it for my stuffed poblano peppers. Fabricated as written with exception of using fresh cilantro. Texture was perfect., nice and rich. I simmered for quite a while . Taste was a little too tomato pastey for me, so I added a niggling more craven broth , salt, and a pinch of sugar. Next time I make this I volition use 3 oz paste instead of vi. Thank you for sharing your recipe. Peppers came out perfect!

I accept tried several beefiness enchilada recipes and this i is by far my favorite. I love making the enchilada sauce. As others have stated, it is somewhat sweet, but I have been using Pace picante sauce, which may be why. I take not tried the fresh salsa as Vickie B suggested but I would like to give it a try the next fourth dimension my family is craving these. This is my get to recipe now for beef enchiladas. Was a bit of work just made for Dominicus dinner so had the time to put it together. Very tasty. Both hubby and I liked this a lot and I will be making it once again. Couldn't find store bought enchilada sauce and got caught without the ingredients to make homemade. Used more salsa instead and I'm not sure we could tell the difference. Next time I will make enchilada sauce and see if it's even improve. Used flour tortillas and did not exercise the oven bake thing with them. Just used them straight out of the bundle. Didn't modify anything else. So good!

This So So skilful. A really nice "pantry" meal. merely do not employ Monterey jack cheese if there are kids or sensitive palates in your house. We used Monterey Jack cheese and precipitous cheddar and information technology was near too hot for my Mom. So good! We had an actress tri-tip steak that had been BBQ'd, so I made the meat sauce without the meat and stirred in the perfectly med-rare chopped upwardly tri-tip at the cease so as non to overcook it. Otherwise followed the recipe exactly. So adept we fabricated it again 3 days afterward!!

I made a one-half recipe, and the portions were just correct for two people. Both of us liked the flavors, also (he hates cumin so I substituted coriander, and I added a pinch of cherry-red pepper flakes while the sauce simmered). Would brand once more.

These are the all-time enchiladas I've ever made. I think the homemade sauce makes a world of difference in the taste. I made some actress sauce and mixed up some canned refried black beans with some sauce, garlic and onion and added to the enchiladas along with the beef sauce.

I love all recipes because most of the recipes I try from this site are great and this one did not disappoint. These enchiladas were eatery quality, actually they were improve than annihilation I can get in a restaurant. My entire family loved them. I followed the directions exactly and it turned out perfectly. Will definitely be calculation this to my repertoire .

I gave upwards making enchiladas years ago because I could never find a recipe where the sauce tasted correct. Just for the heck of it I decided to effort it once again & saw the rave reviews for this recipe and so I gave it a shot today. Wow! I loved information technology. The recipe was perfect, just as-is (except I have to use corn tortillas...Im not a fan of flour for enchiladas). Im then excited cause enchiladas are my absolute favorite nutrient so I tin make them all the fourth dimension myself & dont have to order out!

I changed ane thing.....I added black beans. But the seasonings and cooking stayed the same. My married man hollered out, Omg this is outrageous. Delicious. My picky grandsons ate similar men and i cant go 1 of them to even eat mashed potatoes. This is goin into my recipe box. Mmmmm mmmmm good stuff. Why people said it was too sweet is across me. Double recipe. I added black beans to the meat mixture. Note - recipe calls for half-dozen oz tomato sauce and most cans are 8 oz. if you used a whole can that would make sauce have to much of a tomato flavor. I will employ i tin can for the double recipe and other and then that and adding some cherry pepper flakes I followed the recipe. And I used jar salsa -these were great. I like to actually fill my enchiladas so one recipe with blackness beans added but made v enchiladas- so I will definitely cook a double or triple batch adjacent time and freeze meat and red sauce separately so that associates is easy for a quick meal when needed! And cheese can be changed. I used pepper jack and a sharp anile white cheddar- that was an awesome blend. Thanks for recipe

This recipe was fantastic! I am non unremarkably one to make a good dish where everyone eats until their full and says I out did myself. Therefore, I give this recipe 5 stars considering it had so much flavor and everyone loved it. I used ane.four lbs of hamburger and would have liked to use ane.six or ii lbs to make the enchiladas thicker with meat. I added more cheese to the pinnacle and for the salsa I used Step hot picante salsa brand.

Nice flavors. Had a very Tex-Mex spin to information technology. I used a spicy salsa and some chipotle pepper powder to increase the oestrus. The homemade sauce is much better than the canned stuff...worth the effort.

Yuuuum!! I'll be calculation this ane into my regular rotation. I didn't put salsa in the ruddy sauce because it was a perfect sauce without information technology. I used Mexican Chili Pulverization, which has more heat, and extra sharp white cheddar in place of the shredded Mexican cheese. It was perfect!

With this recipe, I've finally succeeded in making enchiladas nosotros like as much as or meliorate than a eatery's. I followed the recipe for the ruddy sauce almost exactly (veg broth because that's what I had). I used chorizo instead of ground beefiness (do it!) therefore I skipped the seasonings in the meat filling. I used pepper jack for the cheese because it's our favorite. I agree 100% with the recommendation to choose the right salsa - fresh from the deli and non too sweet. This recipe is a keeper!!

I have made this many times for my family unit. This is the only recipe they seem to love. Accept tried many others over the years, but this one is heads in a higher place the others. It does have awhile to make, so relieve a good time slot for this one. Well worth the await though.
